Purpose#
This glossary defines the terms the platform uses, with the Arabic wording of the interface in guillemets. Where the interface says the same thing in two ways, both are given. Each entry says only what the product means by the term.
Parcels and tracking#
- Parcel («طرد»; the public tracking page says «تتبع الشحنة», "Track shipment"): one item sent from a merchant to a recipient, with one tracking number, one status and a history. The panels say "parcel"; "shipment" is the everyday word for the same thing.
- Tracking number («رقم التتبع»): the number printed under the barcode on the label. It opens the public tracking page. It usually starts with the tracking prefix set for the delivery company (for example VIR for the company of an independent merchant).
- Pickup request («طلب مندوب يستلم الطرود»): a request from a merchant of a delivery company asking the company to send a courier to collect parcels. Staff assign a courier and mark it collected; the request does not change any parcel status. Independent merchants do not use it.
- Packaging («التغليف»; «التعبئة والتغليف» in the classic menu): an optional catalogue item the company defines and the merchant can pick on a parcel. It is saved with the parcel, but the current fee calculation does not use it.
- Return («مرتجع») and refusal: when delivery fails for good the status becomes «فشل التوصيل — راجع للشركة» ("Return to Courier"), then «راجع للتاجر» ("Return assign to merchant") and «استلمه التاجر (مرتجع)» ("Return received by merchant"). A refused or failed attempt that only sends the parcel back to the warehouse is logged on «الطلبات المرفوضة» ("Rejected requests") with the courier's name and the reason; it is not final.
People and roles#
- Merchant («تاجر»): a business account that creates parcels. It is either a merchant of a delivery company or an independent merchant.
- Independent merchant («تاجر مستقل»; the system value is
VIRTUAL_MERCHANT): a merchant who signed up on the platform itself through the "Register as a merchant" page («سجّل كتاجر») or was added by the super admin. It has its own plan, the platform wallet and a My delivery company section for its own couriers. - Courier («مندوب»; the classic menu says «رجل التوصيل», "Delivery Man"): the person who delivers parcels and collects the cash. Couriers work in the mobile app and have no web panel; company staff add them under «المناديب والعمولات» ("Couriers and commissions").
- Branch («فرع»; "hub" in some forms): an office or collection point of a delivery company. Staff tied to a branch see only its parcels, and parcels can be moved between branches («عم ينتقل لفرع تاني», "Transfer to hub"; «وصل الفرع», "Received by hub").
- Warehouse («مستودع»): it has two meanings. The status «بالمستودع — جاهز للتوزيع» ("Received Warehouse") means the parcel is at the company's depot, ready for a courier. The Warehouse service («خدمة المستودعات») is platform storage for merchants' goods, off until the super admin enables it.
Companies and places#
- Delivery company («شركة توصيل»): a company with its own couriers. A shipping company («شركة شحن»; the super admin menu says «شركات الشحن», "Shipping companies", and its badges say "Shipping carrier") is an outside carrier the platform reaches through its API. The company list on New parcel marks each option "— my company", "— delivery company" or "— shipping company" («— شركتي», «— شركة توصيل», «— شركة شحن»).
- Company domain («دومين شركة» in the sign-in messages): each delivery company works on its own subdomain of the platform's main domain («الدومين الرئيسي»). In the system code a company is a "tenant"; the interface almost never uses that word. The super admin signs in on the main domain only.
- Coverage areas («مناطق التغطية»): the countries and governorates a company serves, set by the super admin. When set, a parcel to an uncovered destination is refused.
- Delivery areas («مناطق التوزيع»): zones the company draws on a map and links to couriers, used to filter and to distribute parcels automatically.
- Pickup location («مكان الاستلام»): the merchant's address from which parcels are collected. It can be a warehouse.
Money#
- Cash on delivery, COD («الدفع عند الاستلام»; «مبلغ التحصيل», "COD amount"): the amount the courier collects from the recipient. Empty or 0 means a prepaid parcel.
- Delivery fee («أجرة التوصيل»; older screens say «رسوم التوصيل», "Delivery Charge"): calculated on the server. For a delivery company it follows the company's pricing method on Delivery pricing: fixed per governorate, by weight, by distance, or by distance and weight; for a shipping company it is the carrier's quote.
- Platform fees («رسوم المنصة»): a fee set by the super admin in the finance rules; it can be zero.
- Wallet («محفظتي»): for an independent merchant it holds the Shipping balance («رصيد الشحن», prepaid fees), COD dues («مستحقات التحصيل») and Reserved amounts («مبالغ محجوزة»). A merchant of a delivery company sees two balances kept by the company. Balances are stored in US dollars.
- Settlement («تسوية»): recording that cash was handed over or dues were paid, for couriers («تسوية المناديب»), company merchants and, by the super admin, the platform and a company. A settlement records; it moves no money.
- Payout («طلب سحب المستحقات», "Request dues withdrawal"; the super admin page says «طلبات سحب المستحقات»): an independent merchant's request to withdraw COD dues to a payout account («حسابات الاستلام», "Payout accounts"). The super admin transfers the money outside the platform and marks it «تم التحويل» ("Transferred").
Plans and integrations#
- Plan and subscription («الباقة والاشتراك»): companies have company plans («باقات الشركات») and independent merchants have merchant plans («باقات التجار»). The super admin sets the features of a merchant plan (API, webhooks, store connections, import, own shipping accounts, warehouses, report export, live tracking) and its limits; a company plan sets API, webhooks and live tracking, with limits including the number of merchants. A merchant of a delivery company is covered by the company's subscription.
- API key («مفتاح الـ API»): a secret generated under «الويب هوك والـ API» ("Webhook and API") and sent as
Authorization: Bearer <key>. Whoever holds it can create parcels on your account, and renewing it stops the old key at once. It is for independent merchants (merchants of a delivery company cannot use it); a delivery company generates its own key under «الربط والـ API» ("Integrations and API"). - Webhook («الويب هوك»; outgoing ones are «إشعارات لنظامك», "Notifications to your system"): an address on your system that the platform calls when parcel or wallet events happen. Each message is signed (
X-DS-Signature), retried automatically and logged. Like the API key it is for independent merchants; a delivery company has its own outgoing webhooks under «الربط والـ API».
